Stratagem
promoting thinking skills & historical study by playing strategy games
Welcome to the Groupsite for Stratagem and Stratagem Solutions. James Istvanffy created both these organizations and any questions, suggestions or useful observations regarding their operation should be sent to him directly.
This site is a public meeting place that provides those who wish to be associated with Stratagem with a shared calendar, discussion forums, photo gallery, files and member profiles or information. Anyone may join this site, however to be recognized as contributing member of Stratagem a donation of money (minimally $10), volunteer work and/or in-kind products are expected.
Stratagem is dedicated to fostering fellowship among wargamers and promote lasting friendships. Good manners, appropriate behavior and toleration for other people's point of view are expected. We are Head Quartered in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
Stratagem sponsored regular monthly meetings were held for many years on the 2nd Saturday of the month; however a new (and independant of Stratagem) has taken the time and space where Stratagem once met.
Additionally Stratagem has been a sponsor of a once a year Convension called Strat-Con (held on the first weekend in February each year) usually at the Military Museums.
Stratagem sponsors Tournaments for specific games - such as Diplomacy, Machiavelli, Hannibal, and others as the need / interest arrises.
Stratagem Solutions and Stratagem also offers political consulting and training including help in nomination races and election campaigns. Stratagem is fully commited to the free, democratic and just society based on a brotherhood of mankind.
Stratagem has other special events (in partnership with other organizations) at the Military Museums, the Glenbow Museum, the University of Calgary, Cal-Con (Calgary Games Convension), Fall Con (cornucopia of games), Fort Calgary, the Mewata Armories, the Calgary Public Library, the Calgary Comic and Engertainment Expo, the Highland Games, the Aero Space Museum, the Lougheed House, the Sentry Box, Community Colleges, High Schools, and other community events. All of these activies are meant to increase the historical strategy gaming hobby and have fun doing so.

Stratagem will no longer giving out prizes due to the serious contention and hard feelings that sometime ensued from such gifts nor will Stratagem support any form of gambling.
Please contact James Istvanffy if you have any questions or would like to help us build and improve the strategy gaming culture in Calgary or if you want to be involved in the political process.
As we sometime say... "Meet me in the war room - with an attitude!!"
Cheers.
